We're looking for a Sr. Automation Engineer with a deep understanding of PLC programming and controls integration to help design and deliver advanced automated manufacturing systems. You'll be part of our fast-paced, innovative Technology Development group, working alongside teams in Software, IT, AI Development, and Automation to scale manufacturing capabilities.
This is a hands-on engineering role ideal for someone who thrives on solving complex problems, enjoys building from the ground up, and works well in a fast-moving, highly technical environment.
What You'll Do:
- Develop and deploy custom PLC code for new automated manufacturing cells
- Design and architect control logic systems from concept to implementation
- Integrate hardware systems including sensors, remote I/O, safety devices, machine vision, HMI, barcode readers, and motion systems
- Collaborate across software, AI, and IT teams to deliver end-to-end automated solutions
- Support scaling efforts through thoughtful, robust automation design
- Work with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Ethernet/IP)
- Contribute to robotic integration and general automation strategy
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Automation, Electrical, Computer, Mechanical, or Software Engineering (or equivalent)
- 10+ years of experience developing custom automation solutions
- Expertise with Rockwell Automation PLCs and programming environments (Automation direct )
- Proficient in Structured Text, Function Block, and Sequential Function Charts
- Strong understanding of automation hardware and integration
- Experience with industrial networks and communication protocols (Modbus, Ethernet TCP/IP, etc.)
- Familiarity with robotics and motion control systems (controls hardware: sensors, remote IO, servos, safety devices, machine vision, barcode readers, HMI)
- Vision Systems
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Hands-on experience with specific industrial robots
- Experience in a secondary PLC ecosystem (e.g., AutomationDirect/ Productivity Suite)
- Proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP)
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git
