Senior Applications Engineer


Are you a driven sales-minded engineer who loves custom automation equipment? Join our client's fast-growing company as a Senior Applications Engineer and become a key player in driving and managing the technological evaluation stage of the sales process. You'll also mentor the Applications Engineering team. This opportunity is open to candidates with previous manufacturing experience who have experience in an engineered-to-order custom machine environment. Our client seeks engineers with demonstrated manufacturing experience who are driven to support customers in the machine selection and technical specification gathering life cycle.


Key Responsibilities:


Project Engineering Support

  • Review RFQs and apply URS documentation
  • Complete conceptual layout drawings
  • Collaborate on customized design solutions
  • Perform sizing calculations and optimization analysis
  • Lead technical proposal evaluations
  • Maintain expert product and process knowledge

Design Integration

  • Organize pre-sale project details
  • Lead Conceptual Design Review for secured projects
  • Maintain accurate records in company databases
  • Provide OEM equipment specifications

Continuous Improvement

  • Create and maintain vendor selection criteria
  • Qualify new suppliers
  • Attend trade shows and seminars
  • Apply standardization criteria to equipment
  • Spend 3 months on the production floor

Sales Support

  • Serve as technical lead in customer communications
  • Travel with sales team for onsite evaluations
  • Recommend alternatives for technical inefficiencies
  • Document site details in CRM files

Mentorship

  • Develop new hires and less experienced team members
  • Implement standardization processes
  • Exemplify company core values and leadership

Qualifications:

  • 2-4 year degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • 4-6 years of application engineering experience is highly preferred
  • Strong client-facing interaction skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in secondary packing, robotics, automation, industrial machine design, and food/beverage packaging
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Salesforce, AutoCAD, PDM

Miscellaneous:

  • Adhere to company SOPs and sell the client Value Proposition
  • Attend trade shows
  • Continuous improvement and industry training
  • Occasional travel (5-10% annually)
  • Strong discipline, problem-solving skills, and work ethic
