JOB SUMMARY Responsible for preparing quotations to meet the process and mechanical requirements of customer specifications while working closely with the outside sales team executing company selling strategy. Supports sales representative team by responding to customer questions and inquiries in a timely manner. Assists with the order reconciliation process and successful hand off to the Project Management team or the Technical Processing Team, as required. May require the entering of orders into ERP system while including all documentation. Qualified candidates will have the ability to blend technical and commercial sales skills to support and drive business.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Provides first line quotation support for custom mixer solutions to the Sales Representatives or other team members as required. Support maybe through emails, E-sales, CFD analysis, phone calls, conference calls, customer visits and/or lab testing, independently.
- Develops a technical written proposal (including all necessary documentation) in response to customer inquiries.
- Applies engineering principles to translate the process and mechanical requirements of customer specifications into the most advisable sales quotation. This may require coordinating the creation of engineering drawings and coordinating the sourcing of non-standard parts.
- With minimal direction from the peers and/or supervisor, is able to complete process and simple mechanical designs to meet the client's specifications by performing calculations. This may require the coordinating the creation of engineering drawings and coordinating with the sourcing department or the vendor directly for non-standard parts. More complex mechanical designs are to be sent to the mechanical engineering team. Expectation is AE3 will require limited assistance from peers for process sizing for a) Solid Suspension, Blending, High Viscosity and traditional sparge Gas-Liquid applications.
- Able to demonstrate the ability to work independently and size (blending, side entry, solid suspension, gas-liquid & high viscosity), select equipment with minimal peer review. Complex sizing such as gas liquid and/or specialty markets may be subjected to a peer review by PTT or team lead. More complex process sizing is expected at this level. A sound concept of mechanical design is required yet complicated shaft designs or specialized (high pressed seals >500psi) is not required.
- Works on opportunities which are generally more complex in nature and traditionally higher in dollar value.
- May require the entry of new inquiries into ERP and CRM system(s) with correct and complete information per company procedures.
- May assists with the entry of orders into the ERP system by completing a thorough review of the order requirements and performing a detailed entry of all data necessary to process the order.
- Costs and prices complete mixer consistent with published guidelines for custom solutions.
- Available to travel approximately 20% of the time.
- Collaborates cross-functionally with other departments during the quotation and/or order reconciliation process to ensure a quality product consistent with current SPX Flow policies.to ensure that customer transactions and orders are delivered on time and on specifications.
- Contributes to technical sales strategy setting with assistance from the Commercial and/or Global Product Management Team for a competitive bid.
- All completed work to be filed electronically to create proper historical record of transactions consistent with Application Engineering team policies.
- Able to run a complete customer witness or non-witness lab test with little support required from the PTT team. (Not paid process consulting.)
- Expected to handle customer sales visits with Regional Sales Manager or individually.
- Can run simple CFD request and is capable of interpreting said results and presenting them to a client.
- Capable of handling client conference calls individually.
- Is comfortable with product knowledge of the mixers offered by SPX Flow. May be brand specific at the moment.
- Regular attendance and participation in team meetings and trainings is required. Employees are required to maintain a regular working schedule consistent with SPX Flow guidelines. Exceptions will be allowed with Manager approval
- Other job duties and tasks as assigned.
- Process and mechanical expectations for the AE3 will be successful completion of the AE 1 and AE2 tests. This team member must also complete at least 4 lab tests and 4 customer on site visits.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES - Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from internal personnel, Sales Rep's and customers
- Ability to read, interpret and accurately respond to technical specifications related to mixer applications and mixer design
- Solid knowledge of Lightnin, Philadelphia and Plenty product (or similar Mixer Industry) capabilities and limitations
- Fluid Mechanics and rotating equipment
- Knowledge of industry engineering standards and Lightnin or equivalent rotary equipment capabilities
- Good oral and written communications skills; able to provide concise and accurate technical communications
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, SAP, other technical applications)
- Good problem-solving skills and ability to develop alternatives
- Strong interpersonal skills and a good team player

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Education: Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required. In limited cases, this degree requirement may be met through a combination of work experience and intellectual instruction establishing substantially the same level of knowledge as an Engineering degree.
Experience: At least 3 years as Application Engineering 2 or equivalent industrial experience.
Supervisory Responsibility: None.

Anticipated salary range for this position: $85,200/yr to $112,900/yr. The anticipated salary range is what we believe to be the likely base salary range for this position at the time of posting. Actual salary for this position will depend on relevant qualifications, skills, and experience
