Sr. Application Engineer in our Columbus, Ohio location.The
Sr. Application Engineer will work within the Application Engineering group and directly with customers to provide technological solutions to refractory challenges within Allied's diverse markets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: - Obtain and analyze operational and process data to provide appropriate refractory solutions.
- Work in tandem with Allied Design Engineering group concerning refractory capital projects.
- Assist in new product trials with customers and in the evaluation and documentation of new refractory technology requirements.
- Create and review case studies and related corporate literature.
- Provide refractory training of Allied team members and Allied customers.
- Assist in meetings and conferences to disseminate information.
- Document control as per company policies.
- Troubleshoot and/or audit customer installations and operations , providing technical assistance and recommendations.
- Assist customers through refractory sample analysis and related testing.
- Join customer visits for technical meetings, service, and installation support on site as necessary.
- Provide refractory 'best practice' and troubleshooting seminars for co-workers, customers and technical organizations.
- Maintain industry presence in relevant trade organizations.
- Work as part of team to maintain and keep up to date on technical knowledge within each of Allied's existing and new application areas and assist in updating company publications. The purpose of this work is to broaden Allied's technical knowledge base as needed.
- Support Allied's sales organization and customers around the world. Occasional travel to US or international locations may be required.
Qualifications: - Bachelor's or advanced degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or another related field, or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum eight (8) years' experience within the metal melting or heat containment industries, focused on areas where refractories are utilized.
- Must demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal capabilities.
- Strong knowledge of refractory materials and properties beneficial.
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Results driven individual with strong communication skills who desires to engage effectively and collaboratively across the organization to drive the best outcomes and achieve business objectives.
- Demonstrated ability to participate, organize, and lead in multi-functional team and to foster a proactive team environment.
- Willing to be hands-on and on site for the purposes of training and global support.
- Travel domestically and internationally as needed to support customers, working flexible hours on occasion.
Working Environment: - Combination of office and factory environments.
- Work environment may be dusty, hot, or cold depending on customer jobsite conditions.
- Required to follow Allied Mineral Products' Safety & Health policy and wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as appropriate.
