Position: Senior Appellate Attorney & Shareholder in Artificial Intelligence and Data Privacy
Location: Hybrid

A prominent law firm has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Appellate Attorney & Shareholder to work on data privacy, artificial intelligence, and other international regulatory matters in its International Section.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Support clients with international data privacy compliance, including:

    • Advising on data privacy compliance for global activities
    • Creating data privacy strategies and operational guidelines
    • Supervising associates and paralegals to collaborate with foreign counsel to understand relevant laws
    • Drafting data privacy-related legal documents

  • Assist with artificial intelligence compliance and other international regulatory matters
  • Engage in cross-border transactions and other legal activities as needed
  • Handle appellate matters involving data privacy and artificial intelligence issues

Qualifications:


  • Strong litigation record with a history of success in the courtroom
  • First-chair experience is required, including:

    • Leading all aspects of case strategy, courtroom presentation, and client communication
    • Conducting examinations of witnesses, making opening and closing arguments, and handling objections during trials
    • Serving as the primary decision-maker during trials and making crucial tactical choices

  • Must have legal drafting experience in various legal documents, including pleadings, briefs, and contracts
  • Experience working with co-counsel on complex litigation matters
  • Seven to ten years of legal practice with a focus on data privacy issues; experience with EU GDPR or other international data privacy laws is strongly preferred
  • Appellate experience with a strong background in writing persuasive briefs and oral arguments
  • Additional experience in regulatory, corporate, and international law is helpful but not required
  • Law firm experience is preferred
  • Excellent academic credentials
  • Commitment to ethics, high motivation, and strong work ethic
  • Attention to detail with the ability to balance multiple projects
  • Experience supervising a team of junior attorneys and staff
  • Responsive team player with excellent writing and communication skills
  • Ability to manage other attorneys and collaborate on complex legal issues

Candidates either must be a member of the Utah Bar or be a member of the bar in another state and be willing to become a member of the Utah Bar as soon as possible.
