Job Location: 203 Redwood Shores Parkway, Suite 650, Redwood City, CA 94065 Salary: Four hundred thousand dollars per year. Responsibilities: Duties include the following: 1. Independently generate differentiated investment ideas based on fundamental research and analysis of company financials, business models, competitive dynamics, and indus-try trends; 2. Build and maintain company-specific financial models in Excel, leveraging accounting and financial statements, to perform in-depth financial analysis and valuation analysis; 3. Develop economic analyses to analyze and forecast economic trends using historical da-ta, economic indicators, consumer, and producer surveys, and statistical techniques; 4. Conduct proprietary due diligence to supplement company and financial analysis, using research methods such as consumer and/or producer surveys and conducting interviews with industry experts; 5. Regularly write investment reports and present investment ideas to Portfolio Manager, and the Dorsal Investment Team; 6. Supervise workflow of Analysts at Dorsal, including creating and managing team sched-ules, delegating investment research analyses and projects, and evaluating performance and providing feedback; 7. Monitor changes in personal consumption trends by income cohort, geography, and in-dustry (discretionary vs. non-discretionary) using consumer transaction card spending data (debit and credit card monitors), leveraging data visualization tools such as Tab-leau; 8. Research and evaluate the impact of US public policy to aggregate consumption and saving trends in areas such as tariffs and trade, tax policy, labor & wage policy, fiscal stimulus, Social Security, and environmental regulation; 9. Maintain Dorsals internal consumer spending and economic data infrastructure using public and proprietary data sources, using statistical techniques to develop and report on research insights; and 10. Participate in industry events and conferences, leading meetings with company man-agement teams. Up to 4 weeks domestic travel required per year. Education and Experience Requirements: Employer requires a candidate to have a bachelor's degree in Economics, Business, or a closely related field plus two (2) years of work experience as a financial analyst, associate, or related occupation in an investment banking setting working with mergers and acquisitions advisory services, IPO advisory services, and corporate financing. Candidate must also have the following: 1. Demonstrated ability working independently on multiple tasks and projects, such as business competition analysis and company valuation, gained through two (2) years of work experience; 2. Demonstrated ability analyzing accounting and financial statements gained through two (2) years of work experience; 3. Demonstrated knowledge of financial modeling gained through two (2) years of work experience; and 4. Demonstrated knowledge of data tables and VLOOKUP formulas in Microsoft Excel gained through two (2) years of work experience. All years of experience may be gained concurrently.
