Position Overview: The Senior Analyst for Model Risk Oversight will play a critical role in ensuring compliance with our Model Risk Management policies and regulatory requirements, enhancing our ability to mitigate and monitor model-related risks. Key responsibilities include the development of the model risk management program, performing independent model validations, and overseeing risk governance processes.
Key Responsibilities: - Conduct independent model validations across various model domains, ensuring they are fit for purpose, mathematically sound, and based on reasonable data and assumptions.
- Evaluate compensating controls and oversee the remediation of validation findings, ensuring that necessary risk mitigations are enacted promptly.
- Maintain and update the Bank's model and tool inventory, working collaboratively with Lines of Business to ensure accuracy.
- Coordinate with model developers and business unit owners to analyze model risk assessments.
- Review ongoing monitoring results to assess model effectiveness and accuracy.
- Analyze other model controls, including issue management, performance tracking, change controls, and documentation.
- Document all work thoroughly and clearly, minimizing the need for edits from reviewers.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications: - Basic programming skills in R, Python, SQL, or similar languages.
- Familiarity with model risk management regulations such as SR 11-7.
- Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative while maintaining high attention to detail.
- A self-starter who is enthusiastic about learning and professional development.
Education & Experience: - Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
- 2+ years of experience in model validation, development, or risk analytics.
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in finance, economics, mathematics, or statistics is preferred.
- Experience with model risk management in mid-sized banks is an advantage.
- Advanced knowledge in statistical analysis and statistical modeling software like R or SAS is preferred.
- Proficiency in financial modeling disciplines such as credit scoring, asset-liability management, and stress testing is a plus.
Technical Skills: - Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Proficient in SQL or similar database tools.
- Proficient in statistical modeling software such as R, SAS, Python, etc.
- Familiarity with Verafin, ALM software, Abrigo, and FactSet is preferred.
