As a Senior Advanced R&D Engineer/Scientist here at Advanced Materials, you will be a key member of our advanced research and development team, accountable for driving innovation and technological advancements. You will play a critical role in developing cutting-edge technologies and solutions to address complex global demand. Your expertise in research, development, and technical guidance will be instrumental in shaping the future of our organization.

In this role, you will impact the organization by leveraging your technical expertise to provide solutions for complex global demand. Your role as a Senior Advanced R&D Engineer/Scientist will not only involve pushing the boundaries of technology but also contributing to the strategic growth and success of Advanced Materials as a leading innovator in the industry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work in a team of scientist and engineers to generate novel molecules and/or compositions for energy storage applications.
  • Design, plan, and execute synthetic routes for the proposed novel molecules and materials.
  • Closely collaborate with the Physical Properties, Modeling and Applications teams to characterize new molecule design criteria, properties and evaluate application performance.
  • Conduct bench scale chemistry experiments, safely and efficiently, and scale-up of novel molecules for customer sampling, properties and applications testing.
  • Effectively document and communicate results and project progress to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior researchers in the team.
  • Strict adherence to established safety policies and procedures. Must be able wear all types of PPE and respiratory equipment as appropriate.

The annual base salary range for this position is $110,000 - $153,000. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

The application period for the job is estimated to be 40 days from the job posting date; however, this may be shortened or extended depending on business needs and the availability of qualified candidates.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • B.S. degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field
  • 4+ years of hands-on experience in synthetic organic chemistry

WE VALUE

  • Advanced (M.S. or PhD) degree in Organic Chemistry, Engineering, Physics, or another related field
  • Postgraduate and/or industrial hands-on experience in the design and synthesis of small molecules.
  • Experience in designing and creating materials for electrochemical applications and/or energy storage such as Li Ion batteries, capacitors, or fuel cells.
  • Experience in Fluorine chemistry will be considered a plus.
  • Track record of scaling new molecule synthetic process to pilot scale via process engineering optimization
  • Demonstrated contributions to the invention and development of novel molecules in the specialty chemicals area.
  • External orientation and desire to understand technology trends, customer unmet needs, and working with external partners.
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment and commitment to project goals and timelines
  • Result oriented and collaborative working mindset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - written and verbal.
  • Reliable and trustworthy with the highest ethical standards and integrity.
