UT CARE, a multidisciplinary organization, was founded in 2014 with a vision of becoming a center of rehabilitation science and engineering, related to stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and other rehabilitative needs; and a mission to support collaborations between engineers and clinicians to improve patient outcomes. Currently, CARE has over 40 active faculty members, representing 16 departments and 9 institutions in the Central Texas area. CARE hosts a monthly seminar speaker series, monthly newsletter, student initiatives and an annual research symposium. CARE is overseen by a faculty and student advisory board, and Co-Directors Drs. Jose del R. Millan and Linda Noble-Hausselein. CARE is looking for a Project Coordinator to lead CARE (40%), guiding the implementation of these various programs.

Purpose

The position of Project Coordinator will provide administrative and faculty support, facilitate new and existing initiatives, and coordinate programs that are sponsored by CARE. The position will also be responsible for coordinating special projects, events, board meetings, scholarship administration and communications for the Initiative.

This position is part-time and not eligible for benefits.

Responsibilities
  • Support a Monthly Seminar Speaker Series
    • Responsible for coordinating travel for speakers, identifying location of the seminar and ensuring audiovisual is functional. Coordinate dinners, and meetings with both faculty and students.
  • Monthly Newsletter
    • Use the software system Constant Contact to build a monthly newsletter relevant to rehabilitation and submit online to CARE's 300+ subscribers.
  • Student Initiatives
    • Support CARE student initiatives, including workshops, travel awards, paid summer internships and capstone projects.
  • CARE Research Day
    • For this annual symposium, work with the Co-Directors and Executive Board to invite the keynote speaker and coordinate reservations, presentations, judging, awards, set-up and take down for the event. Responsible for the program, promoting and advertising, as well as food and drink orders, coordinate room reservations, equipment, custodial services, etc.
  • Maintain website
    • Keep website content current on the website, and update events including seminar series speakers, workshops, CARE Research Day.
  • Community requests
    • Facilitate community questions and requests, directing them to the appropriate person or team, and facilitate community outreach.
Required Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED with at least 7 years of experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Social Sciences, Sciences or a related field with at least three years of experience coordinating or administering an academic program or initiative.
  • Ability to work independently as well as participate as a team member.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrate accuracy and follow-through on work assignments.
  • Demonstrated results-oriented approach to work.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills as well as demonstrated ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff and students.
  • Proven ability to handle concurrent projects, coordinate activities, deal effectively with interruptions and be flexible in a busy office with revolving priorities.
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrate good work ethic.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with the University of Texas policies and procedures
  • Familiarity with DEFINE, Workday, FRMS
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
Salary Range

$35 an hour

Working Conditions
  • May work around standard office conditions.
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
  • Lifting and moving.
  • Work is performed in an open office environment.
Work Shift
  • Standard work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
  • Flexible schedule and/or hybrid telework may be allowed.
  • Periodic work outside of normal business hours, to include evenings and weekends, may be required on a periodic basis or for special events.

Retirement Plan Eligibility:
The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
