Job Purpose:Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Accounting Manager's primary responsibilities will be to work with the Accounting team to ensure that payments are processed according to the finance calendar, ensure accurate accounting records are maintained and lead on the internal audit.The Senior Accounting Manager is also responsible for preparing regular reports and analyses such as the monthly unrestricted report, quarterly financial statements analyses, quarterly revenue received and the expenses of budget versus actual.This is afull-time positionbased in our New York office, where a hybrid, 2-day-per-week office schedule is in place. We offer highly competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits. The salary range for this position is $110,000 to $115,000 USD. The candidate must have authorization to work legally in the United States at the time of hire.Duties and Responsibilities:Accounting Team Support and Collaboration - Work closely with the Accounting Managers to ensure that payments are processed according to the finance calendar and accurate accounting records are maintainedSupport Accounting Managers with complex tasksSupport the training of Staff accountants on accounting methods, procedures, and techniquesAssist team member to process 1099 at the beginning of every yearReview accounting entriesWork closely with Accounting Managers to resolve discrepanciesAccounting Entries and Reconciliation - Process International office entries and review fund requestsWork closely with International Offices Finance point people and Director, International Office Finance on any inquiriesAccounting entries - Revenue, ICR and adjustment entriesProcess complex entries in systemReview and approve unrestricted expense reports, vendor bills, and journal entries in NetSuiteAssist on Intercompany Entries, which include Funds Transfer and Monthly Intercompany Expenses Entries.Quarterly Intercompany Close and Quarter Hard Close - Assist with monthly closing tasksCross check Bank and Credit card reconciliationsReview with managers on Advance/Accrual/Prepaid reconciliationAging analysis- Payable and ReceivableQuarterly Accounts Receivable ReconciliationQuarterly and Annual Financials and Tax Audit - Lead on internal audit planManage schedules for auditorsAssist SVP Finance with Tax filing-form 990Take the lead in the internal auditAssist in completion of the internal and external audit.Reports and Analytics - Reports: Prepare monthly unrestricted Report, quarterly financial statements analysis, quarterly revenue received and the expenses of budget vs actualReview and update program and unrestricted Power BI reportsAnalyze big expenses heads - cost-effectivenessAssist Controller with assigned tasks/projects and analytical reports as required.Review information to ensure accurate reporting.Record-keeping - Oversee and participate in preparing, maintaining, and/or verifying a variety of accounting, financial, and statistical records, ledgers, logs, and files.Gather, assemble, tabulate, enter, check, verify, balance, adjust, record, and file financial data according to prescribed accounting procedures.Establish and maintain various files and recordsAccounts Receivable - Review Grant Agreement and ensure the revenue recognition in NetSuite is according to GAAP.Maintain the Grant List with details In NetSuite and Revenue Tracker.Qualifications:Education and Degree - BA; CPA and/or MBA preferredSkills and Abilities - Strong accounting skillsAbility to effectively present financial information to management in a clear and concise mannerGood business partnering skills working with various people across different offices both internal as well as externalExcellent communication, coordination and problem-solving skillsAble to drive changes to improve processesAbility to document work processes, procedures and policiesExperience Required -At least 8 years of progressive work experience in FinanceExperience of financial accounting systems, Netsuite is preferredExperience in a nonprofit/NGO is a plusStrong knowledge of GAAP and internal controlsIntermediate to advanced Excel skills
