Job DetailsJob Details:
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Accounting Manager to join our team. This role is pivotal in managing and overseeing all aspects of our financial operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the entire accounting function, including accounts payable, financial reconciliation, payment processing, invoicing, and vendor transactions. The individual will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with all regulations, particularly those relating to the cannabis industry. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your financial management and audit skills in a fast-paced and rapidly growing industry.
Responsibilities:
1. Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to: accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
2. Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, customer credits and collections, payroll, perpetual inventory integrity, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, cost accounting, Human Resources, and Operations etc.
3. Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual closings. Prepare financial statements and coordinate with external auditors for audit processes.
4. Ensure company financial records, under responsibility, are maintained in compliance with company policies and US GAAP. Responsible for reviewing monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and other documents to ensure this compliance.
5. Stay updated with industry-specific regulations and ensure the company's financial operations comply with legal standards.
6. Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.
7. Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines.
8. Manage the preparation of the company's budget and report variances along with creating forecasts.
9. Manage relationships with vendors and service providers, ensuring all items are invoiced and paid on time.
10. Analyze the company's financial results with respect to profits, trends, costs, and compliance with budgets. Issue regular status and ad-hoc reports to senior management.
11. Provide strategic guidance around capital financing options to support company growth needs.
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. A Master's degree or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is preferred.
2. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior-level finance or accounting position.
3. Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
4. Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems. Proficiency in using accounting software and Excel.
5. Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
6. Ability to analyze financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections.
7. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
8. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
9. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity.
