Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented accounting professional to support our Controller and finance team. The ideal candidate will possess a robust accounting background, particularly in real estate development, construction, or infrastructure-related projects. This position is responsible for the full spectrum of accounting processes and financial reporting for a portfolio of commercial and development real estate assets. The role involves direct collaboration with property managers, asset managers, and third-party management companies. Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and hands-on experience with an accrual-based, monthly-close process, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, are essential. The candidate should also be adept at identifying and improving monthly processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- 4-8 years of accounting experience in commercial property management or construction accounting preferred (CPA desirable).
- Microsoft Office Suite with proficiency in advanced Excel and practical knowledge.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ("GAAP") and financial reporting.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:
- Prepare and enter journal entries for fixed assets, accruals, deferred rent, prepayments, and other balance sheet accounts.
- Participate in all aspects of month-end close and close analysis. This involves ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and analyzed, which is crucial for maintaining the integrity of financial statements.
- Review rent rolls, A/R and other related reports. Ensure financial reports tie to general ledger.
- Process A/P, including reviewing and coding invoices for payment. This task requires a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage multiple invoices efficiently.
- Assist with cash flow management, forecasting, and reconciliations. This involves predicting future financial needs and ensuring that the company's cash flow remains healthy.
- Support financial statement preparation, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. This involves analyzing financial data to identify trends and variances.
- Assist with budgeting, financial analysis, and variance reporting.
- Maintain organized electronic financial records for compliance and audits.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure adherence to financial policies and best practice accounting standards.
- Support technology adoption within the accounting function, leveraging tools like Excel for data analysis.
