Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, with expertise in managing general ledger functions, ensuring the accuracy of financial statements, and supporting month-end and year-end closing processes. This individual will be responsible for maintaining the integrity of the general ledger, preparing journal entries, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. The Senior Accountant will also play a key role as a business partner supporting the operational accounting needs of several BakeMark branches.
Key Responsibilities
- General Ledger Management:
- Oversee and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately and in compliance with accounting standards.
- Review and post journal entries, maintaining proper support in accordance with company policies.
- Perform detailed analysis of general ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Month-End and Year-End Close:
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Coordinate with other departments to gather the necessary financial data and resolve issues that may arise during the closing process.
- Prepare timely and accurate balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Branch Financial Support:
- Review financial results with Branch Management. Ensure that financials are accurate and reflect the state of the business in accordance with their operational knowledge.
- Support Branch Management in the annual budgeting process.
- Reports sales and use tax, property tax, and handles other tax and license requirements for assigned branches.
- Collaboration and Support:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, FP&A, Branch teams, etc.) to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Assist with the development and implementation of accounting procedures and best practices. Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead discussions with management.
- Support audit processes by providing required documentation and addressing audit queries.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field. CPA or CPA candidate preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in general ledger accounting.
- Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial reporting requirements.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research issues independently and propose solutions.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Distribution / Manufacturing industry experience preferred, including working knowledge of inventory and cost accounting.
Compensation:
The starting salary for this position is $70,000 per year, with final compensation based on experience and qualifications.
