Leading healthcare services company is looking for a talented Senior Accountant to join the team. This opportunity offers a hybrid work schedule (3 days in office, 2 days work from home) and reports to the Corporate Controller.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Create/ maintain a thorough and documented system of accounting policies and procedures. Ensure updated documentation for accounting related standard operating procedures.
- Prepare journal entries and comprehensible work papers for close process, as well as fluctuation commentaries related to financial statements reviews.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and identify/investigate discrepancies.
- Provide assistance to both accounts payable and accounts receivable functions to produce efficiency and proper control process.
- Prepare tax and survey reports/filings, ensuring accuracy and timely filings.
- Prepare initial reporting packages for review by the Controller and make any appropriate updates to reports.
- Works with external auditors and provides needed information for annual audits.
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government regulations.
- Mentor, train and collaborating with accounting staff.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives/projects.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related program required.
- 4+ years working in accounting or finance required, public experience preferred.
- CPA designation highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) preferred.
- Experience in healthcare highly preferred.
- Thorough understanding of accounting department functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, etc.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and proficiency in other Microsoft applications.
