Zumiez has big goals for our accounting team. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Senior Reporting Accountant with detailed knowledge of US GAAP, SEC reporting, technical accounting, equity accounting, audit coordination and financial reporting functions. This position is key to our North America accounting team reporting to the SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft with a focus on high accuracy and detail, SEC reporting which includes 10-Qs,10-K, Proxy and 8-K, S-3, S-4. Includes the preparation and analysis of SEC schedule support. Leverage RR Donnely DFIN application and apply iXBRL to support the drafting process.
- Prepare monthly consolidation, foreign exchange translation entries, loan remeasurements and intercompany.
- Prepare accounting for stock-based compensation for compliance under ASC 718, including monthly journal entries, month end reporting and stock-based compensation forecasting.
- Prepare various (legal, insurance, equity, fx, bonus) monthly journal entries to support monthly close process.
- Preparation of internal reporting and identify areas of improvement that drive greater clarity on financial results for stakeholders. Maintain Adaptive reporting and gain expert knowledge of application.
- Prepare and analyze the consolidated cash flow statement on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis, ensuring accurate reflection of operating, investing, and financing activities across all entities within the group.
- Support cost center owners in understanding financial results and prepare details for monthly close meeting with CFO. Specifically support review of shipping and freight expenses, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for cost optimization.
- Support insurance broker and CFO in annual insurance renewal process which includes various schedules, recons and accounting entries.
- Assist manager in evaluation and consistent application of US GAAP, SEC SX regulations, company policies.
- Prepare weighted average shares, EPS and forecasted share count.
- Prepare timely and accurate filing of 401(k) regulatory filings and coordination with external auditors.
Adhoc responsibilities:
- Support and execute projects that support the annual accounting plan.
- Identify business events that require evaluation and documentation on appropriate accounting applications.
- Monitor, evaluate and analyze emerging accounting and reporting standards from the FASB, SEC and other standard setters. Lead technical accounting updates, including partnering with process owners. Plan and assist in directing the implementation process of new accounting and reporting activities.
- Design, develop and document new accounting procedures as well as update existing procedures that will align with company initiatives and long-term growth strategy.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Experience:
BA/BS degree and 3+ years of relevant experience.
Experience with SEC reporting required.
CPA or equivalent required.
Previous public accounting experience and public company experience, including global operations, strongly preferred.
Experience with RR Donnelly type tools.
XBRL knowledge and experience.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of US GAAP and SEC rules. Financial reporting risk and controls standards and business process best practices.
Ability to excel in a flexible, fast-paced work environment and possess the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. Ability to work a flexible workday with little to no advance notice. Excellent communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to interact effectively with different personality styles and departments.
Ability to excel in a flexible, fast-paced work environment under time sensitive goals, manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Attention to detail and strong organization skills a must.
Strong decision making and problem-solving skills. Ability to be innovative and creative with a critical thought process in resolving issues and improving systems.

Proficiency with Excel, Word and other Office Products with the ability and desire to look at innovative options in technology.

Salaries and Benefits:
Job Type: Full-time, Salaried
Base Compensation: $80,000 - $100,000 per year
