A growing commercial construction and real estate brokerage firm in Georgetown, Texas, is seeking a Senior Accountant to manage all day-to-day financial operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, job costing, payroll coordination, and general ledger entries. This role is essential to the timely and accurate completion of financial processes and reporting. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and capable of managing multiple construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
Project & Job Cost Accounting
- Collaborate with project managers to prepare monthly owner billings.
- Track job costs and monitor budget-to-actual variance reports.
- Process monthly subcontractor billing workflows, including lien waivers, cost coding, and approvals.
General Accounting
- Post and reconcile journal entries, accruals, intercompany transactions.
- Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure proper GL coding.
- Process monthly bank reconciliations, including intercompany and credit card accounts.
Accounts Payable / Receivable
- Enter and process vendor invoices, issue payments (check/ACH), and resolve vendor inquiries.
- Create and issue customer invoices based on project schedules.
- Record and reconcile incoming payments, following up on outstanding A/R.
Payroll Support
- Coordinate with the payroll processor to ensure timely and accurate pay runs.
- Maintain records related to job cost allocation of labor expenses.
Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Assist with preparation of year-end financials and audits/tax filings.
- Ensure compliance with state sales tax and contractor regulatory filings.
Technology & Process Improvement
- Serve as internal expert for accounting software.
- Develop and maintain internal documentation and SOPs for accounting tasks as needed.
- Provide training documentation and support for future team members.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 4+ years accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based industry.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Enterprise Contractor Edition, Sage Intacct Construction, or NetSuite.
- Intermediate Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, etc.).
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred:
- Experience with job costing or industrial/commercial project accounting.
- Familiarity with sales tax requirements across multiple states.
- Prior experience creating accounting process documentation or SOPs.
