Essential duties and responsibilities:
Organizational Fiscal Functions:
- Assist Controller in planning, developing, and implementing the organization's fiscal function procedures which includes accounting, finance, operations and human resources.
- Assist Controller in producing timely and accurate financial reports, budgets, analysis, and trends
- Verify that Generally Accepted Accounting Principles are followed.
- Assist Controller in overseeing inventory controls and procedures to ensure accurate recording of material cost and overseeing inventory cycle counts.
- Assist Controller in daily and monthly recording keeping and internal controls over cash activity.
- Verify that accounting controls are adequate and adhere to protect entity's assets
- Assist with customer billing as needed and manage accounts payable and payroll transactions.
Organizational Customer Service/Relations Functions with Clients/Vendors:
- Communicate with customers as needed for any billing and collections issues.
- Communicate with suppliers to properly receive and record invoices and make timely payments to vendors.
Organizational Compliance Functions:
- Assist Controller in interacting with outside accounting firm for Federal taxation matters
- Assist Controller in ensuring that state franchise, sales, and payroll taxes are paid and reported accordingly
Management Risk
- Assist Controller in evaluation and management of insurance programs to protect entity's assets and financial resources and minimize cost
Additional duties & responsibilities:
- Accomplish all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
- Assist Controller in enhancing and/or developing and implementing policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
- Human Resource role for the Company to ensure handling of new employee paperwork, insurance and 401K enrollments, payroll changes and updates, etc.
- Establish credibility throughout the organization and with the owner as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or similar degree required
- CPA is preferred, but no required. Must be willing to be on the path of pursuing your CPA in the state of Texas
- Manufacturing industry experience required
- A well organized and self-directed individual.
- An intelligent and articulate individual who can relate to people at all levels of an organization and possesses excellent communication skills.
- A good educator who is trustworthy and willing to share information.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Prior experience working with independent outside audit firm
