Job Details



The Senior Accountant will report to the Controller and provide information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist management, its shareholders, and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company's future.

Financial Planning & Analysis And Financial Reporting:
  • Financial Close
  • Manages monthly account reconciliations
  • Develops strategic presentations
  • Assist in financial planning & analysis and forecasting process
  • Assist in annual budget consolidation and review
  • Manages Ad Hoc requests by both parent company and MP Systems, Inc.

Risk Management:
  • Identify outdated accounting procedures and work flow bottlenecks; recommend solutions
  • Perform technical accounting research and apply accounting standards to business transactions
  • Ensures policy, procedures and systems provide effective internal controls and meets regulatory guidelines
  • Study existing control procedures and policies, present findings and make recommendations to management.
  • Facilitate licensing requirements for various states, counties, cities, and occupations
  • Maintain current database of various licenses
  • Understand and facilitate proper sales tax reporting in all applicable jurisdictions
  • Assist Controller with annual risk management RFP/renewal process
  • Aid with testing of ERP system and optimization efforts

Personal/Team Development:
  • Develops training plans across various functions
  • Identifies and pursues development opportunities for self and team
  • Completes continuing education required by the position
  • Understand all processes and facilitate cross training in the areas of Payroll, Accounts Payable, and Accounts Receivable to enhance corporate shared services vision

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 3+ years of related experience preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant status preferred
  • Positive safety attitude and personal integrity both are non-negotiable
  • Strong background in GAAP accounting
  • Knowledge of construction accounting not required, but beneficial
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft suite of applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analysis
  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
  • Knowledge of relevant Federal, State and local requirements
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey information and ideas in letters, memos and presentations, so others will understand
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a wide cross section of individuals
  • Competence to keep company information strictly confidential

  • Ability to see details and recognize errors, working within precise standards of accuracy
