Responsibilities:
- Oversee deliverables to ensure adherence to company policies, GAAP, CAS, and FAR standards.
- Prepare, update, and analyze monthly financial statements and additional reports for senior leadership in a timely manner.
- Apply advanced accounting expertise to manage and supervise both routine and complex accounting functions, including receivables, billing, payroll, accounts payable, contract revenue calculations, fixed assets, general ledger activities, financial statement preparation, and compliance support.
- Assist with ASC 606 compliance by performing calculations to support accurate revenue recognition.
- Maximize the use of the Deltek Costpoint accounting system, including its planning and business intelligence modules, to efficiently manage, plan, and record all company financial transactions.
- Provide support for all audits, including those related to DCAA compliance.
- Maintain the company's balance sheet, oversee cash management and forecasting, and conduct monthly bank reconciliations.
- Foster strong working relationships with internal teams and auditors, responding promptly to inquiries.
- Play a key role in developing indirect rate structures, budgets, forecasts, incurred cost submissions, and general ledger activities.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for resolving complex accounting issues within the organization.
- Establish regular review processes for AP, AR, billing, payroll, and internal controls.
- Conduct in-depth research and analysis of billed and unbilled receivables and revenue recognition calculations.
- Identify opportunities to improve existing accounting practices and procedures, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement changes.
- Support the preparation and submission of federal and state tax returns, extensions, and payments.
- Take on special projects as assigned.
- Proactively identify opportunities to increase revenue and reduce costs as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger management, job costing, and GAAP compliance.
- CPA preferred; Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent education and experience.
- Experience handling banking transactions.
- Proficiency with Deltek Costpoint or similar government-approved accounting systems.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and consultative skills.
- Ability to adapt and reprioritize tasks based on changing business needs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
- High level of discretion and confidentiality.
- Strong organizational and program management capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of accounting experience in the government or defense sector.
- MBA is a plus.
- Proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and industry partners.
- Demonstrated flexibility in adapting to shifting business priorities.
