Senior Accountant Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead accounting operations for the department, ensuring accurate financial reporting and budget management.
  • Serve as the primary finance contact, overseeing annual budgeting and reforecasting.
  • Collaborate with Finance, leaders, and stakeholders
  • Manage monthly financial statements, variance analysis, and compliance deadlines.
  • Prepare audit workpapers and assist with annual consolidated and single audits.
  • Review and correct accounting transactions to ensure accurate project-level reporting.
  • Work with Finance teams on board meeting preparations.
  • Maintain expertise in grants, contracts, and non-profit financial operations.

Senior Accountant Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 5-10 years of accounting experience, including general ledger, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience with federal government grants & contracts.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple deadlines and work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience preparing annual budgets and 990 non-profit tax returns.
