A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Royal Borough of Greenwich is seeking to appoint a compassionate and committed Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with additional needs. This full-time role will begin in September 2025 and is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about making a real difference in a child's educational journey.
The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and external professionals to support the child's learning, emotional wellbeing and independence in a mainstream classroom setting. The school is looking for someone who is patient, adaptable and able to build a strong, trusting relationship with the child.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Providing consistent 1:1 support tailored to the child's individual needs
  • Assisting with learning activities in the classroom and during interventions

  • Implementing strategies outlined in the child's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP)
  • Working collaboratively with staff, parents and external agencies to ensure holistic support
The ideal candidate will:
  • Have experience working with children with SEN, particularly in a 1:1 capacity (desirable but not essential)
  • Be caring, patient and committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning
  • Demonstrate good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
  • Be proactive, resilient and able to use their initiative
  • Be committed to safeguarding and inclusive practice
The school offers:
  • A supportive and experienced SEN team and leadership structure
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities
  • A positive, nurturing environment with a strong emphasis on wellbeing
  • Opportunities to be part of a school that values diversity, inclusion and collaboration
  • Excellent transport links across London and a vibrant local community
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and contributing to a caring and committed school team.
