ZGF is seeking a Security Specialist to join our team in our Washington, D.C office. The Security Specialist supports the firm's security operations, with particular focus on maintaining federal programs and security frameworks that safeguard systems, information, and people. The role contributes to the support of all elements of federal information security as well as to the overall security maturity of the firm in general. The position will have prior experience in an Assistant Facility Security Officer (AFSO) role with the ability to acquire a Secret DoD security clearance.


As a Security Specialist, you will

  • Support Facility Security Officer (FSO) in managing, implementing, and maintaining the firm's compliance with the National Industrial Security Program (NISP) and other security activities including facility operations, personnel security, and document control.
  • Establish and maintain a working relationship with DCSA and other US government security officials.
  • Assist FSO in preparation for and completion of annual inspections to ensure government compliance.
  • Support FSO in conducting vulnerability and risk assessments.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to employees to ensure proper adherence to federal security programs.
  • Assist with coordinating and conducting federal security trainings and briefings/debriefings.
  • Assist in investigating and reporting security violations and incident reports.
  • Collaborate in the development and delivery of ZGF's general security awareness programs.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of general cybersecurity best practices, programs, and procedures.
  • Assist with maintenance and management of building access control systems.
  • Aid in the development and implementation of security policy, standards, and guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • At least 1 years' experience as an Assistant Facilities Security Officer (AFSO) or equivalent role.
  • Sound judgment and possess excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with project teams, consultants, clients, and government representatives.
  • Ability to plan and perform assignments as an integrated, cooperative team member while simultaneously able to operate independently with minimal or no supervision.
  • Good work ethic, and be a dependable, conscientious, respectful, and accountable team player.
  • Absolute honesty and trustworthiness with personal and professional integrity.
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and exhibit discretion relating to business and personnel matters.
  • Familiarity with Federal security programs, including: 32 CFR Part 117 NISP, 32 CFR Part 2002 CUI, 48CFR 52.204.21 FCI, and the CMMC program.
  • Experience with DISS, NISS, NBIS, and NCAISS systems-of-record.
  • Demonstrate initiative and ability to provide clear guidance to all levels of personnel and implement modifications to operations, policies, or procedures as identified.
  • Complete FSO Program Management for Possessing Facilities curriculum within 30 days of hire.
  • Possess a current Secret Personnel Security clearance or eligibility to acquire one.
  • Bachelor's degree and minimum 5 years' work experience preferably in the Architecture/Engineering industry.

Base Salary Range

$67,000/yr - $75,000/yr
