SummaryThe Albuquerque Academy Security Department is seeking an individual for the position of Shift Supervisor. This position is responsible for performing supervisory work involving the safety, security, and protection of all students, faculty, staff, families, and visitors on the Albuquerque Academy campus. Essential Functions- Provide for the safety, security, and protection of all students, faculty, staff, families, and visitors on Albuquerque Academy property using available resources.
- Develop programs and provide services which will promote a safe environment.
- Respond to community requests, incidents, and problems. Provide feedback on actions taken and policies implemented.
- Test and maintain security alarm systems, security camera systems, security interior door lock systems, and security exterior door lock systems. Perform or coordinate repairs as needed.
- Test, maintain, and ensure that needed repairs are performed to keep campus fire safety systems, emergency notification systems, campus emergency light systems, and campus exterior lighting systems fully operable.
- Work with the Director of Crisis Management to provide support and assistance as needed for campus lockdowns and other campus emergencies.
- Review performance of all Security staff on a regular basis.
- Be responsible for the assigning, scheduling, and training of members of the Security staff.
- Maintain work schedules for all Security staff to provide necessary coverage on campus during the regular school schedule and all other campus events.
- Get along well with others and deal effectively with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
- Develop and maintain the building lock and unlock schedule.
- Submit work orders to the Physical Plant department.
- Maintain and approve the scheduling of staff vacation time.
- Approve and maintain staff timecards for payroll.
- Be responsible for the monthly consolidation of a personal company credit card in AMEX.
- Make disciplinary decisions to correct staff disagreements, behavior, or bad work ethics (i.e. verbal or written warnings, counseling, or recommendations to the HR Department for termination).
- Perform annual reviews of employee work and behavior progress.
- Ensure staff IDP's are scheduled and completed.
- Plan and oversee all security work, maintaining a high standard of safety, customer service, and efficiency.
- Maintain the Security budget and oversee expenditures.
- Work flexible hours as needed, including evenings and weekends.
- Support the School and its mission, always maintaining a high degree of professionalism.
- Foster and maintain a culture of mutual respect, equitable practice, and joy.
- Demonstrate cultural competence and communicate and collaborate effectively across differences.
Other Responsibilities- Communicate assignments and scheduling with Security staff.
- Attend employee meetings as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Education- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience- Minimum three years of experience in a supervisory role or equivalent is preferred.
- Previous experience in law enforcement is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities- Ability to attend continuing education related to security and school safety topics and customer service skills as provided by the school.
- Knowledge of equipment, tools, and procedures used in security work.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow specific instructions and safety procedures in English.
Special Requirements- A valid Driver's License is required.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
Working Environment- Majority of work is performed in both indoor and outdoor settings on campus.
- Shifts are generally 8-hours, with additional hours as needed, and may require early morning, late evening, and weekend availability.
Physical Demands- Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds with or without assistance
