How you'll make an Impact

The Security Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining security tools, tracking their usage, and ensuring they are properly configured and upgraded. This role involves monitoring, evaluating, and safeguarding internal information systems, networks, databases, and web-based assets. Additionally, the Security Engineer will author Standard Operating Procedures, process documentation, product evaluation documentation, and tool reporting.

Summary of Location and Hours
  • This is a 100% remote position
  • Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm Time Zone
  • Equipment is provided
  • A reliable and secure home internet connection with at least 20 Mbps upload and 20 Mbps download speed is required
What you will be doing
  • Conduct complex vulnerability assessments and monitor systems, networks, databases, and web-based assets for potential breaches.
  • Lead the implementation of changes to enhance security systems and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Respond to alerts from information security tools, investigate and resolve higher-level security incidents.
  • Address security tool outages, service degradations, tune security rules and alerts, and maintain security tool dashboards and reporting.
  • Research the latest security trends, methods, and techniques to preemptively eliminate the possibility of system breaches.
  • Ensure tool configurations comply with regulations and privacy laws.
  • Educate and communicate security requirements and procedures to all users and new employees.
  • Manage the security tools deployed in Ntiva's client environments and core technology stack.
  • Provide oversight and serve as the subject matter expert to junior security engineers.
  • Manage and resolve security-related tickets from the ticket board, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for security incidents and ensure continuous protection of information systems.
Required Knowledge and Experience
  • Experience with security infrastructure software and hardware.
  • Knowledge of vulnerability testing tools and techniques.
  • 2-5 years of experience in implementing, configuring, tuning, maintaining, and managing cybersecurity technologies, products, and services.
  • Foundational background in one or more of the following areas: networking, operating systems, databases, cloud environments, and/or architecture.
You'll be successful in this role if you have experience in/with
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Security Engineer or in a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of cyber threats, security principles, and technical expertise.
  • Familiarity with various security architectures and protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively train staff and report to management.
Required language skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally, in English, both written and orally
  • Ability to write business correspondence and process procedures
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public

The base pay range for this position is expected to be between $70,000.00 and $95,000.00 per year, plus an annual on-target bonus if applicable, not all roles are subject to a bonus. The base pay offered may vary depending on multiple non-discriminatory factors including, but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position also includes medical benefits, 401(k) eligibility, and PTO. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

FLSA Status: Salaried, Exempt

Workspace Requirements and Remote Work Policy
Team members must establish a dedicated safe workspace that is free from distractions, hazards, and that is secure from unauthorized access. This includes following Ntiva's IT User and Security Policies that include but are not limited to password-protecting all equipment, keeping confidential and proprietary documents secure, refraining from using public Wi-Fi, having adequate arrangements in place to avoid significant interruptions from caregiving responsibilities during work hours (except in emergency situations with manager approval). Any remote work away from a team member's normal expected dedicated safe workspace must be requested by team member, is subject to review by management, and must adhere to Ntiva policies and procedures.
