Security Engineer - 12 month contract to hireLocation: Louisville, KY (hybrid with 2-3 days on site)Pay: $33/hrShift: M - F 8:30a-5:30p (potential on call support needed)Summary: This position is responsible for the daily security monitoring, support, and ticketing of the client's network, user accounts, and email. This includes proactively identifying security issues and vulnerabilities, tracking phishing attempts, monitoring traffic from blocked countries, and assisting with network security implementation.
Responsibilities: - Continuously discover security issues and vulnerabilities.
- Stay updated on security vulnerabilities related to organizational applications, software, and devices.
- Develop remediation plans and research solutions for security issues.
- Assist in developing and implementing security best practices and hardening guidelines.
- Review security requests from other teams and determine secure implementation methods.
- Assist with network security implementation and firewall maintenance.
- Address security alerts and respond to security events/incidents.
- Perform security analyst duties as needed.
- Conduct risk and security assessments.
- Perform threat hunting.
- Evaluate new security technologies for risk reduction and zero-trust implementation.
- Perform basic red teaming and penetration testing.
- Provide security support and consulting services.
- Assist in evaluating DevOps and cloud security.
- Assist with security awareness activities.
Requirements: - Knowledge of basic security technologies and solutions.
- Knowledge of networking and network security.
- Understanding of Windows OS, Windows Servers, and Linux.
- Basic knowledge of Active Directory and Azure AD.
- Experience with security systems.
- Knowledge of zero-trust principles and security best practices.
- Understanding of web technologies, applications, and services.
- Basic scripting skills (bash, PowerShell, and/or Python).
- Strong problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Dependable, trustworthy, and a lifelong learner.
- Bachelor's degree in a security field is a plus.
- Minimum two years of experience in a security or networking position.
- Cybersecurity Engineer experience required.
- Security certifications (Net+, Security+, or higher) are a plus.
