Security Engineer - Remote/Hybrid - Systematic Trading Firm - Austin, Texas - Up to $150 P/H


12+ Months Contract (Possible Extension)


Acquire me are working with a leading Quantitative hedge fund renowned for its rapid innovation in trading technology and real-time risk management. As they continue to strengthen their cybersecurity division, they're looking for a skilled Security Engineer (Contract) to join their high-performing team and support critical initiatives in a fast-paced, regulated environment.


Job Responsibilities

  • Design and deploy secure provisioning, attestation, and verification processes throughout the hardware and firmware lifecycle
  • Partner with silicon vendors, OEMs, and internal teams to validate trust anchors and key lifecycle events
  • Help shape architecture and tooling for secure boot enforcement, firmware transparency, and device integrity verification
  • Build out workflows to ingest firmware and hardware telemetry, detect anomalies, and support audit reporting
  • Contribute to internal and external supply chain threat modelling, security assessments, and mitigation strategies
  • Stay current on evolving supply chain threats, hardware security standards, and low-level vulnerability classes
  • Support clarification of security requirements across multiple networks to enable multi-level security models

Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills

  • Formal education or certification in software engineering, computer science, or data science, with 5+ years of hands-on experience
  • Strong track record in security engineering, hardware/firmware systems, or supply chain risk management
  • Deep understanding of firmware architectures like UEFI, BIOS, BMC, NVMe, etc.
  • Familiar with open-source firmware projects (e.g., coreboot, U-Boot, OpenBMC)
  • Experience working with cryptographic building blocks used in attestation (e.g., ECC, SHA, PCRs, X.509)
  • Proficient in Go, Rust, or C/C for systems-level development
  • Knowledge of SBOM standards, firmware signing processes, and secure boot implementations
