Execute policies and procedures to ensure the physical protection of the organizations property/ asset, employees, and customers. Analyzes security data and recommends measures to address patterns and systemic security issues. Serves as an administrator of Video Management System and manages issues related to access control

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Ensure SORTA-Metro compliance with FTA and Homeland Security directives by evaluating and monitoring all the Authority's security equipment; investigate alarms and respond to security related incidents 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Briefs incoming staff on security processes and debriefs outgoing staff
  • Assist with Joint Safety Committee Activities, including SIP and field exercises
  • Video Management System Health Monitoring and Coordination Responsibilities:
  • Monitor the health of the Video Management System (VMS): Regularly check system performance, functionality, and security to ensure optimal operation.
  • Coordinate responses to system failures: Identify and diagnose issues promptly and collaborate with relevant teams to implement solutions.
  • Maintain system documentation: Keep detailed records of system health checks, incidents, and resolutions. Implement preventive measures: Develop and apply strategies to prevent future system failures and enhance overall system reliability.
  • Provide training and support: Offer guidance and training to staff on best practices for using and maintaining the VMS.
  • Download Facility video videos and maintain records Demonstrate proficiency in use and functionality of the Access Control System and processes for employee ID badges including vendor/guest pass procedure.
  • Generate monthly security reports and related statistics, reporting to SORTA management as required; update security policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in use and functionality of the facility and coach surveillance systems.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the use of Trapeze.
  • Conduct Authority-wide investigations assigned, including but not limited to, security related customer and employee complaints, perform follow-up investigations as needed, monitor all CPD and/or Metro Security Guard related activities to ensure compliance with SORTA procedures.
  • Respond to motor coach police related emergencies as needed regarding fights, drunkenness, disorderly conduct, etc. Instruct employees and make court appearances when necessary.
  • Communicate with Risk Management regarding security related issues in compliance with security reporting.
  • Conduct security assessments as required by the FTA and respond to the deficiencies.
  • Participate in drills and exercises, including writing, scheduling and executing evacuation drills for all facilities.
  • Assist in directing and overseeing the daily security related activities for all SORTA-Metro employees,
  • facilities and property.
  • Assure that the daily operation of the Metro security is efficient and of the
  • highest quality.
  • Interface with stakeholders to reduce or remediate assessed security risk and manage the implementation of internal protocols
  • Coordinate review of incidents and interventions to reduce the likelihood of operator assaults. Offer considerations to address and remediate actions that may have provoked incidents
  • Interface with local, state, and federal agencies to implement security best-practices.
  • Prepare routine and special reports for Management.
  • Protects all Metro assets from all crimes and investigates and documents incidents.
  • Represents Organization in criminal court proceedings.
  • Review on-board video camera software and review security incidents
  • Produce and distribute bulletins, newsletters, and internal communications regarding safety and security
  • Facilitate the development of strategies to meet or exceed organizational and department performance goals and objectives, monitor results, and recognize employee, department and organization accomplishments.
  • Model, facilitate and encourage exemplary internal and external customer service, open communication, collaboration, participation and professional development among staff.
  • Serve as backup to the Security Manager as needed, including assisting with grant related writing and projects.
  • Maintain case files of investigations of Security Incidents
  • Assist in the development of strategies to meet or exceed organizational and department performance goals and objectives, monitor results, and recognize employee, department, and organization accomplishments

Education
  • Bachelor's Degree (four-year college or university)
Experience
  • Five to seven years' experience criminal and administrative investigation.
SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Computer Skills
  • Working knowledge of Internet and e-mail applications, spreadsheets, and word processing.
Other Requirements
  • Ability to work in compliance with Metro's safety and security policies.
  • Willingness to continue education as necessary for FTA compliance.
  • Must stay current with all security related technology.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information.
  • Ability to work and cooperate with others internally and develop professional relationships externally.
  • Satisfactory work performance and attendance record.
