SECTIONAL CARE LEVEL II - JOB DESCRIPTIONThe sectional department is responsible for the care of plants/maintenance of an area of a production yard.
Essential Function:
• Pulls weeds, removes suckers, and consolidates stock in their designated area.
• Ensures that the irrigation system is properly set up in area and that there is not over or under watering.
• Ability to identify any plant health related issues.
• Communicates with the inventory staff when consolidating or moving plants. Reports poor plant health and dumps as well.
• Communicates with yard manager on daily and weekly tasks.
• Safely uses ladders 8-14 feet tall.
• Climbs ladders to pound and tie tree stakes.
• General care for the nursery grounds, keeping the nursery clean, organized, and safe for employees, customers, and vendors.
• General care for nursery stock (plants), ensures plants are watered, handled with care, and are placed in the appropriate location.
Additional Tasks:
• May assist in other nursery departments as needed.
• Duties are subject to change at any time per management's discretion.
Job Specifications:
Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions on uneven ground surfaces and rainy weather. Extensive walking. Stoop, bending at the waist, twisting, turning, and squatting is required. Climb ladders.
Lifting Requirements:
Up to 75lbs. 80 percent of the time. Up to 100lbs 10 percent of the time. (Team lifting technique when required.)
Hand movement:
Gross grasping for moving plant material. Use of hands/fingers to handle/feel.
