About the Position:
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire Secretary Senior in our Safety Division Area No. 63 Office in Amherst, Virginia. The successful candidate will provide administrative and clerical support to Area Sergeants and Troopers, assisting with a range of office and administrative tasks; evaluate issues and determine appropriate actions related to office operations; perform data entry, research, retrieval, and report compilation using various computer systems, including Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), Civil and Applicant Records Exchange (CARE), and other software applications; and oversee the maintenance, organization, security, and disposal of administrative, personnel, and inspection records.

Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of general office operations, including report preparation, correspondence formatting, and administrative coordination.
• Skill in preparing and editing reports and correspondence with accuracy and professionalism.
• Proficiency in typing and utilizing computers, including Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft Word, and other relevant software applications.
• Skilled in operating automated office equipment efficiently to support administrative functions.
• Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize responsibilities effectively in a fast-paced office environment and work independently with minimal instruction or supervision.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing, with internal and external stakeholders.
• Prior experience in administrative, secretarial, or clerical roles involving office operations and customer service, requiring proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
• Experience using and maintaining automated office equipment, including computers, printers, and scanners required.
• Requires Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN) certified, which requires either United States citizenship or a lawful permanent resident of the United States and eligible for naturalization.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
