Job Description
Performs difficult clerical work undertaking a variety of assignments in a municipal office; does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. Supervision may be exercised over subordinate personnel.
Essential Functions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Types letters, invoices requisitions, reports, statistical documents, vouchers, etc. from rough draft, copy, or verbal instruction;
Checks and reviews a variety of data for accuracy, completeness, and conformance to established standards;
Serves as receptionist; provides requested information; takes and relay messages;
Opens, sorts, and distributes mail;
Handles billings and keeps various accounts;
Collects and prepares data for records and reports;
Operates word processing and other office automation equipment;
Prepares deposits.
RELATED TASKS:
Composes routine correspondence independently or from supervisor's notes;
Maintain various records and files including confidential files;
Prepares requisitions, types purchase orders, maintains files; orders supplies and equipment;
Maintains appointment calendar; sets up appointments for supervisor and other personnel;
Makes arithmetical calculations, posts and makes entries in account books and other records; collects money for various items;
Performs related tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of standard office practices, procedures, equipment, and clerical techniques; general knowledge of business English, spelling, and arithmetic; ability to type accurately at a rate of 35 WPM; ability to make arithmetical calculations; ability to meet the public effectively; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and the general public; ability to follow oral and written instructions; skill in the use of a variety of standard and automated office equipment; skilled in a word processing program.
Minimum and Preferred Qualifications
Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school, including or supplemented by courses in typing and a minimum of one (1) year of experience in clerical and typing work.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of valid State of Florida Class "E" driver's license with no more than six (6) points in a three (3) year period.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: To be eligible to receive Paid Leave and to contribute to the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan, a part-time employee must have worked at least 1,040 hours in the prior fiscal year
PAID LEAVE: Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will receive twelve (12) hours of Paid Leave on October 1st. This Paid Leave shall be used no later than September 30th of that fiscal year or it will be forfeited. These hours may not accumulate and may only be granted with the approval of the employee's supervisor. This paid leave has no cash value at separation of employment.
MISSION SQUARE 457 DEFERRED COMPENSATION PLAN: Employees who work a minimum of 1,040 hours per fiscal year will be allowed to participate in the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan. The City will not provide any matching funds.
