JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB GOAL:

To provide advanced secretarial work in a school and/or perform assigned bookkeeping duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in secretarial/clerical work.
  3. A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of basic computer hardware and software related to assigned duties. Knowledge of business English, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic. Knowledge of basic bookkeeping practices. Knowledge of school office practices and procedures. Knowledge of school rules, regulations and procedures, and the ability to apply such knowledge to work problems and situations. Ability to compose effective correspondence. Ability to deal with routine matters with a minimum of supervision. Knowledge of school records and files maintenance practices and procedures. Ability to assemble and organize data, and to prepare reports from such data. Ability to communicate effectively with students, school personnel, and the public, demonstrating poise, tact and courtesy. Ability to type at a prescribed rate of speed.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Maintain internal accounts and prepare financial report.
  2. Prepare requisition for supplies and equipment.
  3. Compile and type school reports or other material from copy, rough draft, or general instructions.
  4. Type letters and other routine correspondence based on information from records and files.
  5. Prepare reports, narratives, and statistical tabulations.
  6. Operate office copy machines.
  7. Process purchase and work orders.
  8. Process documents requiring various procedural knowledge.
  9. Maintain files.
  10. Review documents for sufficiency, obtain necessary signatures and route appropriately, maintaining follow-up.
  11. Perform receptionist duties.
  12. Perform computer data entry.
  13. Meet and deal effectively with the general public, staff members, students, parents, administrators and other contact persons using tact and good judgment.
  14. Exhibit interpersonal skills to work as an effective team member.
  15. Model and maintain high ethical standards.
  16. Represent the district and school in a positive and professional manner.
  17. Demonstrate initiative in the performance of assigned responsibilities.
  18. Keep supervisor informed of potential problems or unusual events.
  19. Follow federal and state laws as well as School Board policies, rules and regulations.
  20. Prepare all required reports and maintain all appropriate records.
  21. Maintain expertise in assigned area to fulfill project goals and objectives.
  22. Participate successfully in the training programs offered to increase skill and proficiency related to assignment.
  23. Perform other tasks consistent with the goals and objectives of this position.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.

EVALUATION:

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
