SUMMARY
Provides administrative support to either the patrol or investigations divisions of the Sheriff's office; reviews and enters reports and case information into the computer; creates, maintains, and updates case files; prepares reports on criminal activity; types offense reports, warrants, statements, and confessions; communicates with field units using radio; searches and obtains information on the Texas and National Crime Information Center (TCIC/NCIC); and performs various clerical duties, including preparing correspondence, answering telephones, and distributing mail.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Scans investigative reports past and present.

• Scans case information into the computer.

• Posts recovery disposition, and processing for monthly report.

• Maintains, and updates case files.

• Generates case numbers for incidents Patrol makes reports on

• Assists in preparing monthly and yearly reports on criminal activity for supervisors and Sheriff.

• Answers telephone, including providing information, taking messages, and transferring calls to the appropriate party.

• Greets, assists, and directs public for making reports

• Scans and generates case numbers of fire reports for the County Fire Marshal.

• Prepares county court summons reports for the District Attorney's office.

• Looks up arrest/offense information for probation and parole officers, and makes copies as needed.

• Makes copies of offense reports for complainants and/or their insurance companies.

• Sorts and classifies information on various crimes, and files into intelligence files.

• Ordering per Midland County requirements

• Regular and timely attendance is required

• Must possess the physical and/or mental abilities required to perform the essential functions of the job.

• Shall abide by all Midland County Polices and City, County Ordinances, State and Federal Laws.

• Performs any assignment issued by chain of command and/or Sheriff
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This is a non-supervisory position.

Qualifications, Education, and/or experience

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school graduation or its equivalent, plus at least one year of experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Knowledge, Skills and/or ability

KNOWLEDGE OF
Criminal justice system; Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications Service (TLETS); and standard office practices and procedures.
SKILL/ABILITY TO
Operate computers, including word processing software; read reports, letters, and memos; write reports, letters, and memos; analyze data; operate office equipment, such as copy machine and facsimile machine; communicate effectively, both in person and over the phone; and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and personnel of other law enforcement agencies.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Certification with the Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications Service (TLETS).
