JOB TITLE: Secretary-Director of Nursing

PRIMARY PURPOSE:Provide clerical support to Director of Nursing
QUALIFICATIONS:Education/Experience/Certification Required: - High School Graduate or GED from an accredited institution
- CPR/AED Certification and First Aid Certification
- Hearing, Vision, and TRAT2DC Screening Certification
certification can be obtained in-district
Special Knowledge/Skills: - Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Understand and respect confidentiality of information
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Sunguard E School.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:Assist Director of Nursing - Type memos, documents, and reports.
- Copy and distribute medical updates to keep nurses current on medical issues.
- Assist Nurse Coordinator in preparation for bi-monthly nurse meeting and staff in-services.
- Assist nurse coordinator with revisions to: Board policies, Student-Parent Handbooks, School Nurse Handbook, School Nurse Forms Book, Computer programs
- Assist with computer training for nurses
- Respond to inquiries of school nurses with regard to district policy, medical concerns, and computer entries, consulting with Director of Nursing as needed.
- Compile and report weekly reportable communicable diseases to Harris County Public Health and Environmental Services.
- Compile Clinic Six Week Summary District Reports and Annual Clinic Report to be distributed to Executive Director, nurses and principals.
- Compile District reports for Texas Department of State Health Services for hearing, vision and spinal screening and Annual Report of Immunization Status.
- Liaison between nurses and student accounting - assists analyzing and recommending changes to computer programs and reports to fit nurses' needs and conform to state requirements.
- Travel to schools to perform vision, hearing and spinal screening of student as needed.
- Maintain Professional Nurse Library.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Student Support Services or Director of Nursing.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Maintain emotional control under stress. Work with frequent interruptions. Must have the ability to sit for prolonged periods, work independently. Exposure to significant reaching and handling, repetitive hand motions and prolonged use of computer. Occasional travel within District.
