We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a dynamic team at an alternative provision setting in Thrapston, Northamptonshire. This is a full-time position supporting students in Key Stages 3 and 4, many of whom face challenges in mainstream education and thrive in a smaller, more personalised environment.

The provision offers a nurturing, holistic approach to education, providing students with the opportunity to learn in small groups and benefit from a high level of pastoral support. Facilities include fully equipped classrooms, a kitchen, a music room, a recreation and reflection area, and a private one-to-one space where students can discuss their progress and wellbeing with staff.

The Role:

  • Provide in-class support to students, assisting with engagement, behaviour, and academic progress.

  • Build strong, positive relationships with young people to support both their learning and emotional development.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff to deliver a curriculum tailored to individual needs, which includes both GCSEs and enrichment activities.

  • Support students in one-to-one or small group settings to help them achieve their personal and academic goals.

  • Maintain a calm, consistent, and supportive approach to behaviour management.

About the Provision:

  • Offers qualifications including GCSE English, Maths and Science.

  • In 2023/24, 87% of Year 11 students achieved GCSEs in Maths and English.

  • Delivers a mix of accredited and enrichment programmes to encourage engagement and personal growth.

  • Focuses on creating a supportive, inclusive environment for students with diverse needs.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with secondary-aged pupils, particularly those with SEMH or additional needs.

  • Calm, resilient and adaptable, with strong behaviour management skills.

  • Passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people.

  • Able to work well within a team and communicate effectively.

  • A background in education, youth work or care is desirable.

Working hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday during term time.

Location: Thrapston, Northamptonshire.

If you are passionate about supporting students who need a different kind of education to thrive, we would love to hear from you.
