Typical Shift Times:
  • 9:30am - 5:00pm (May vary slightly)
  • Scheduling will be discussed in interview process
  • Must be available to work weekends
Position Summary

The Guest Services Cashier is a seasonal position with the possibility of transitioning into a regular part-time position after the season concludes. Guest Services Cashiers serve as the first point of contact for our guests at the Zoo's entrances and play a key role in creating a welcoming and supportive environment for everyone who visits the zoo. They can act as Greeters, Line Captains, Rovers within the Zoo, and Cashiers for both General Admission and Oakland Zoo Member entry. These essential members of our team help connect folks to amazing experiences at the Zoo.

Essential Job Duties
  • Provide excellent service to all Zoo guests and fellow Zoo Staff, supporting a friendly and helpful environment.
  • Conduct cash, credit, and occasional check transactions with careful attention to details and accuracy
  • Provide efficient and responsive support to all guests.
  • Be aware of basic Zoo information to answer guests' questions.
  • Maintain an organized workspace and adhere to proper cash-handling procedures.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of, and support, the Conservation Society of California's mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of behavior.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Who You Are
  • Ability to read, count and write accurately.
  • Able to communicate with customers, co-workers, and management.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Must be flexible with work schedule.
  • Basic computer skills needed.
  • Able to work in a confined space.
  • Able to tolerate varying inclement outdoor weather conditions such as heat, cold, wind and rain.
  • Comfortable working with low levels of light.
Bonus If You Have
  • Cash-handling experience.
  • Previous customer service experience.
  • Prior sales experience.
