Seafood Department Lead - New Store Opening in Irvine (Mid 2025)

Employment: Full-Time, Direct Hire

Salary Range: $22 - 27/hour

Benefits: Health/Dental/Vision Insurance, Retirement Plan (not 401K)

Our client company is opening a new grocery store in Irvine in mid-2025 and is looking for a Seafood Department Lead to join their team. Training will take place at one of our Southern California locations until the new store is ready.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise daily operations of the seafood department, including customer service, ordering, receiving, inventory, scheduling, and cleanliness.
• Cut and prepare fish for sashimi and sushi.
• Train and support seafood team members.
• Maintain high product quality and freshness.
• Monitor sales, expenses, and waste to help meet profit goals.
• Handle customer inquiries and resolve complaints.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
• Keep display cases clean, organized, and well-stocked.
• Help coordinate repairs and maintenance of seafood equipment.

Requirements:

• Experience supervising in a seafood department or sushi restaurant.
• Skilled in cutting fish for sushi and sashimi.
• Experience with ordering and inventory management.
• Ability to manage a small team (0-10 members).
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Able to work at different store locations during training.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic math and reasoning abilities.
• English proficiency required; Japanese or Spanish is a plus.
• Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, sometimes loud or cold/hot environment.
