Prellis Biologics uses proprietary technology to 3D print lymph node organoids, enabling the generation of in vitro antibody libraries and human lymph node cocultures for producing antigen-specific B-cells. We are seeking a Scientist or Senior Scientist to join our Protein Sciences team with deep expertise in mass spectrometry and protein biochemistry. This role reports to the Scientific Director of Platforms and will be responsible for developing and implementing analytical and preparative workflows across our discovery pipeline.
The ideal candidate will have strong mass spectrometry skills, plus hands-on experience with high-throughput IgG purification, AKTA-based protein chromatography, and peptide/protein chemical conjugation. You'll work cross-functionally to support early drug discovery and contribute broadly to multiple platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute LC-MS/MS and LC-QTOF/MS workflows to characterize proteins, peptides, drug substances, and intermediates.
- Perform intact mass, sequence confirmation, and PTM analysis (e.g., glycosylation, disulfide mapping).
- Independently manage high-throughput IgG purification workflows, including optimization for yield and throughput.
- Operate and maintain AKTA FPLC systems for antibody/protein purification and method development.
- Develop and perform protein and peptide conjugation protocols, including linker chemistry and small-molecule attachments (e.g., for ADCs).
- Troubleshoot MS and purification assays, analyze complex datasets, and document results with scientific rigor.
- Interact with external vendors for service and maintenance of mass spectrometry and chromatography instrumentation.
- Collaborate across Discovery, Screening, and Functional Biology teams to deliver high-quality analytical support.
- Maintain a high degree of autonomy in lab operations, problem solving, and data interpretation.
- Communicate findings effectively in team meetings, technical reports, and cross-functional updates
Qualifications
- BS/MS/PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline with: 10+ (BS), 8+ (MS), or 2+ (PhD) years of relevant industry experience.
- Demonstrated expertise in mass spectrometry for protein and peptide characterization.
- Hands-on experience with AKTA purification systems and column chromatography techniques.
- Strong working knowledge of IgG purification, especially in high-throughput screening contexts.
- Experience with protein/peptide conjugation chemistry for bioconjugates, linkers, or drug attachments.
- Deep understanding of analytical method development and biophysical characterization.
- Familiarity with peptide synthesis or downstream functional assay support is a plus.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and adapt across workflows.
