JOB DESCRIPTION:
St. Paul's School seeks a science teacher to begin duties in late August 2025. The primary responsibility will be to teach courses within the fields of chemistry and/or physics at the secondary level. St. Paul's offers a core sequence of physics in the first year of high school, followed by chemistry then biology. St. Paul's offers a wide variety of additional courses in these foundational science disciplines, as well as multiple courses in the field of computer programming, engineering, robotics, and astronomy. This core science sequence aims to prepare students to be curious about the world around them and inspired to take more advanced and diverse science courses throughout their St. Paul's career and beyond.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The primary responsibility will be to teach three year-long courses and one term course in the Science Department. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment working with other science teachers and with the broader faculty in advancing the mission of the School and the commitment to teaching and learning in a holistic educational environment. In addition to teaching responsibilities, faculty at St. Paul's School are responsible for a variety of activities typical to the boarding school environment, including advising, dormitory association, coaching, committee work and other duties. Preference will be given to candidates who have an understanding of boarding school life. As with all positions, St. Paul's Schools seeks educators who will embrace the fully residential living experience and have a demonstrated gift for engaging a diverse student body and strengthening the St. Paul's School inclusive community.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelor's Degree in chemistry or physics at a minimum, Master's Degree or Ph.D. preferred.
Experience: Successful candidates need to have five or more years teaching science at the secondary level and show an ongoing commitment to maintaining current in both pedagogy and scholarship. As part of residential boarding school, the candidate must be committed to working and living with adolescents and supporting their academic, social, and emotional growth.
SALARY: Competitive, based on experience.
