About the Role

We are seeking a curious, energetic, and rigorous Science Teache. The ideal candidate brings a love of scientific thinking and inquiry-based instruction, and is committed to helping students build strong foundational knowledge in life, physical, and earth sciences.

This role includes collaborating with the STEM Director, math teachers, and Special Education team to ensure cross-disciplinary alignment and strong support for all learners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver daily science lessons aligned to New York State science standards and internal pacing guides

  • Facilitate labs, experiments, and hands-on activities that drive student curiosity and understanding

  • Use data to assess student progress, reteach as needed, and inform future lesson planning

  • Integrate writing, discourse, and modeling into instruction to support students' scientific thinking

  • Collaborate with STEM and SPED teams to differentiate instruction for SWD and ENL learners

  • Build a classroom culture rooted in Emblaze's RISE values: Respect, Integrity, Scholarship, and Effort

  • Communicate regularly with families to share progress and support student achievement

  • Participate in weekly Friday professional development and team planning

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (required); Master's degree in Education or a science-related field (preferred)

  • New York State certification in Science Grades 5-9 or 7-12 (preferred)

  • Prior teaching experience at the middle school level, particularly in under-resourced settings (preferred)

  • Passion for science and ability to make complex content accessible and engaging

  • Strong classroom management and clear instructional execution

  • Commitment to equity, growth, and student-centered learning
