The Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) is seeking qualified and enthusiastic individuals to join our Forensic Services within the Direct Care and Treatment (DCT) division of agency.

The Forensics Services campus in St. Peter is comprised of the Forensic Mental Health Program and the Forensic Nursing Home. Forensics Services provides mental health evaluation and treatment services to individuals diagnosed with a mental illness who present a risk to public safety. This is a safe and secure treatment environment.

This position exists to provide administrative and clerical service to the Forensic Scheduling Office while creating and maintaining schedules for security counselors and leads, nursing staff, human services support specialists, dietary staff, and support staff. This position requires customer service, proficient computer skills, and the ability to understand and apply collective bargaining unit language.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Customer Services skill sufficient to provide information to other Forensic Services staff in a helpful and courteous manner.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, MS Word for document creation and formatting, MS Excel for data collection, entry, and basic analysis (e.g., charts, tables), MS PowerPoint for preparing presentations and visual materials
  • Data Entry skills sufficient to create database records and update entries within a forensic healthcare setting
  • Database Management skills sufficient to navigate, update, and maintain a database in a forensic healthcare setting.
  • English Language skills sufficient to compose correspondence with accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation, and to communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, and union partners
  • Math skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
  • Spreadsheets skills sufficient to develop and modify basic spreadsheets and be able to sort and extract data
  • Typing/Keyboarding skills sufficient to complete a variety of reports, letters, and data entry
  • Word processing skills sufficient to develop and modify a variety of correspondence and reports
  • Experience with Outlook and Microsoft Office applications (i.e., PowerPoint, Word, OneNote, Teams, Excel, Forms, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year of scheduling experience or familiarity with Atlas Scheduling Software
  • Knowledge of various local labor contract bargaining unit agreements.
