SCADA Engineer

We seek a skilled SCADA engineer with a minimum of 2 years of experience in utility-scale solar + BESS generation facilities, substations, and transmission systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support for design, implementation, project management, and commissioning of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems for our renewable energy projects.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Design and Development
- Develop and implement SCADA strategies for utility-scale solar + BESS generation facilities, substations, and transmission systems.
- Ensure that design and development of SCADA systems for renewable energy projects are in compliance with all relevant standards and regulations.
- Lead the project management and commissioning of SCADA systems for renewable energy projects.
Engineering Analysis
- Analyze and troubleshoot complex SCADA systems to ensure efficient and reliable operation.
Collaboration
- Collaborate with other engineers, project managers, and stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of SCADA systems with other project components.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to other team members as needed.
Testing and Validation
- Develop and execute test plans to validate the performance and functionality of SCADA systems.
- Support troubleshooting and resolution of any issues or anomalies identified during testing.
- Develop and deliver training to operations and maintenance personnel on SCADA system operation and maintenance.
Documentation
- Create and maintain documentation for all SCADA system design, testing, and maintenance activities.
Continuous Improvement
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and trends in SCADA systems and make recommendations for improvements to existing systems.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of SCADA design processes.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- B.S. degree in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field - ABET accreditation preferred
- 2+ years of experience in utility scale solar and BESS, or a related field
- Familiarity with SCADA systems, including hardware and software components (HMI, PLC RTU, IED), networking and communication protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC)
- Experience with programming languages, such as Python or Java, and databases, such as SQL.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to SCADA systems, such as NERC CIP and IEEE.
- Computer skills: Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, Outlook, Teams
PREFERRED EXPIERENCE
- Experience with Ignition, Cisco, SEL
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex SCADA systems
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Ability to coordinate between multiple engineering disciplines
- High quality organizational skills
- Professional certification in SCADA systems
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This position has no direct or indirect supervisory responsibilities, subject to change, if necessary, as responsibility changes.
- This position will indirectly report to the SCADA Team Lead
WORK ENVIORNMENT
- The ideal candidate should be physically able to sit in front of a computer every workday for long hours at a time.
- This job could operate in the main office or remote.
- This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and headsets.
- Work can be fast-paced and demanding during peak seasons in project development.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- This is largely a sedentary role working in an office environment. This position would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend, stoop, kneel or stand as necessary, manual dexterity necessary to operate office equipment as necessary to perform all aspects of the job.
POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
- This is a full-time position.
- You may be required to infrequently work weekends or after normal business hours to support project needs.
- Flex-schedules are negotiable.
TRAVEL
- Limited travel is expected in this position.
