Job Summary: The Sanitation Worker plays a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in all back-of-house culinary areas. This position ensures that kitchens, dish areas, equipment, and food prep surfaces are clean, organized, and safe, supporting the culinary team in delivering high-quality food in a hygienic environment.
Key Responsibilities: - Wash and sanitize all kitchen equipment, cookware, and utensils.
- Clean and maintain dishwashing machines, pot sinks, and food prep stations.
- Remove trash and recyclables from kitchen areas and dispose of them properly.
- Mop and sanitize floors, walls, and surfaces in accordance with food safety protocols.
- Monitor and refill soap, sanitizer, and paper products in designated areas.
- Deep clean ovens, hoods, fryers, and other equipment on a regular schedule.
- Follow proper storage and labeling of cleaning chemicals in accordance with OSHA and HACCP standards.
- Assist with deliveries by organizing boxes and disposing of packaging as needed.
- Communicate any safety hazards or maintenance issues to supervisor promptly.
Qualifications: - Previous experience in a commercial kitchen, stewarding, or janitorial role preferred.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards a plus.
- Ability to follow directions and work efficiently in a team environment.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
Physical Requirements: - Must be able to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
- Frequent bending, lifting, and reaching in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and push/pull heavy carts or bins.
- Comfortable working around hot surfaces, sharp objects, and cleaning chemicals.
- Must wear non-slip shoes and personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
Pay Range and Compensation Package: - $17.00-$19.00 per hour
