Job Title: Sanitation Specialist
Location: Rochester, NY
Summary: We are seeking a Sanitation Specialist to ensure cleanliness, food safety, and regulatory compliance across our manufacturing facility. This role is responsible for cleaning production lines, maintaining sanitation inventory, and following strict food safety protocols. The Sanitation Specialist plays a critical role in supporting operations while minimizing disruptions to production.

Shift:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM or 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM (based on production needs)
Pay:
$17.50 - $20.00 per hour (scheduled raises tied to performance reviews)
Core Duties & Responsibilities:
- Clean and sanitize all production lines per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Manage sanitation chemical and equipment inventory to ensure proper stock levels.
- Collaborate with Production, Shipping, Quality Assurance, and Purchasing teams.
- Conduct risk assessments for food safety hazards and implement mitigation strategies.
- Support Quality Assurance programs, including:
- Pre/Post-Operational Inspections
- Environmental Monitoring Program
- Allergen Cleaning & Testing
- Chemical Safety Compliance
- Perform scheduled deep cleaning tasks with minimal impact on production.
- Ensure compliance with FDA, NYS Agriculture & Markets, and third-party food safety standards (Kosher, Gluten-Free, etc.).
- Train employees on proper sanitation procedures, chemical use, and equipment handling.
- Maintain detailed records of sanitation activities, inspections, and chemical usage.
- Respond to urgent sanitation needs (e.g., spills, contamination events).
- Assist with basic maintenance and troubleshooting of sanitation equipment.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience:
- 1-3 years in food/beverage manufacturing or industrial sanitation preferred.
- Knowledge of sanitation chemicals, equipment, and best practices is a plus.
- Familiarity with cGMPs, HACCP, FDA, and USDA food safety regulations preferred.
- Basic understanding of microbiology and chemistry related to food safety is a plus.
- Skills & Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow strict protocols.
- Ability to work independently and manage shifting priorities.
- Mechanical aptitude for sanitation equipment troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in digital tools/software for sanitation tracking and reporting.
Work Environment & Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, and handle sanitation tools/equipment.
- Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or lift up to 50 pounds.
- Frequent movement between office and production areas with hands-on sanitation tasks.
