Position Title: Sales Tax Auditor

The purpose of this position is to perform full scope Transaction Privilege and Use tax audits of businesses to determine compliance with the Model City Tax Code, State statutes, City Tax Code and the City's business licensing ordinances benefiting the City with additional tax and license revenue beyond voluntarily reported by taxpayers. Also conducting related research within guidelines established by City and State requirements, providing taxpayer education and assistance in addition to being part of Education and outreach program. This position may also act as a project leader, and work closely with Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) and other agencies as necessary.

The ideal candidate for this position will have: - Bachelor's degree or 3 years' experience
- Exercise initiative and independent judgment to make decisions based on facts and/or information available and applicable codes and/or laws
- Interpret applicable laws
- Ability to operate excel and extensive tax data
- Communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Sound customer service principles and procedures
- Work independently and persistently
- Valid AZ Driver's license upon hire
- Able to complete the Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) Auditor training within the first 180 days of employment
