The position assists with analyzing various transactions, researching the applicable sales and use tax law and making appropriate recommendations for tax planning or problems resolution. Job Description The Sales Tax Analyst is an integral member of the Operating Tax Team and is heavily involved in maintaining Ryder's sale and use tax policies, procedures and systems. The position assists with analyzing various transactions, researching the applicable sales and use tax law and making appropriate recommendations for tax planning or problems resolution. Essential Functions + Respond to customer service-related sales and use tax issues + Maintain Ryder's sales and use tax policies and procedures + Leverage technology to query and analyze data to assist with compiling reports needed to support compliance, audits and refund projects + Use analytical skills to identify process improvement opportunities + Work with others to implement changes that lead to efficiencies + Review and approve exemption certificates and update related systems Additional Responsibilities + Other projects as requested Skills and Abilities + Strong understanding of US sales and use tax laws and GAAP + Knowledge of Canadian GST/HST/PST preferred, but not required + Strong written and verbal communication skills a must, including the ability to explain sales and use tax laws, analyses and recommendations to team members, Management and others within the Ryder organization + Commitment to focus on process improvements that will lead to efficient and accurate tax liabilities + Experience in using RIA Checkpoint, Avalara Tax Research, Alteryx, Vertex Indirect Tax O Series, Thompson Reuter's OneSource Determination + Proficient in using Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel PowerPoint and Access + Experience in Fleet Leasing & Rental, Supply Chain and Trucking a plus + Experience in using AS400 a plus Qualifications + Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field + CPA or Master's degree a plus + 3 years of relevant sales and use tax experience Job Category: Tax Compensation Information : The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc. Compensation ranges for the position are below: Pay Type : Salaried Minimum Pay Range: 75,000.00 Maximum Pay Range: 90,000.00 The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type.
