Paladin is now LHH Recruitment Solutions. We are partnering with our Portland, OR packaging solutions client to recruit a Sales Manager to be the founding member of their Portland-based sales team. In this role, you will be responsible for the entire sales cycle, inheriting existing partnerships with clients and vendor partners, with a focus on expanding to new businesses and industries. You will be tasked with setting strategic benchmarks for this function, and will ensure consistent cohesion on product positioning in the market. Probably most importantly, you will prospect, pitch and sign new, US-based clients in the food, retail, hospitality and similar industries. As a founding member of this team, you will work closely with the cross-functional and executive teams here in town to maintain product expertise, market knowledge, and ensure innovation opportunity. To be a fit, you should bring 5+ years of dedicated sales experience in a relevant field, which could including packaging, food manufacturing or similar businesses. Strong knowledge of sustainability in the packaging and single-use space is highly preferred. You must have deep comfort in and robust knowledge of the sales cycle, from cold calls, pitches, contracts and account management work.


This organization is scaling their PNW presence and investing in Portland. This is a hybrid role that will sit in the Portland, OR office most of the time, but travel within the US to clients, industry events and trade shows will make up a significant percentage. Base salary ranges from $90,000 to $120,000 annually, and this role is eligible for additional earnings based on sales growth.


You will:

  • Own the sales and new business development cycle for the US, conducting cold calls and outreach, setting meetings, signing new business and expanding opportunity within current clients
  • Develop performance metrics, sales goals, KPIs and strategic plans for the sales function, tactically working to meet and exceed these consistently
  • Serve as a key partner to cross-functional teams and company executives, providing market intelligence, competitor analysis and serving as the voice of the customer
  • Educate clients on the advantages of highly innovative and sustainable packaging solutions
  • Travel to visit clients in person and attend relevant industry events and meetings

Your experience should include:

  • 5+ years of sales experience with a deep knowledge of full-cycle sales management, from cold calling, pitching, contracting and account management
  • Experience in the packaging, paper goods or food industry, required; Deep knowledge of selling into food, hospitality, retail and CPG clients
  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills with experience presenting to both clients and internal stakeholders
  • Some business analytics skills to track performance and opportunities
  • CRM proficiency
