Description:
Weldall Manufacturing is seeking an experienced Estimating & Business Development Manager to lead and develop our estimating team while providing strategic oversight to our sales team. This position will manage a team of estimators and an administrative support staff to ensure smooth operations, process accuracy, and continuous improvement in quoting. It will also guide a small self-sufficient sales team, ensuring they maintain a steady pipeline through targeted outreach and business development efforts.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly skilled estimator with leadership experience to step into a key management role that influences both estimating and business development strategies.
Estimating & Team Management (Primary Focus)
- Lead, develop, and mentor the estimating team and administrative support staff, ensuring high performance and accuracy in project quotes.
- Actively participate in estimating tasks, including developing cost estimates, analyzing labor and material costs, and ensuring competitive pricing.
- Oversee and improve estimating processes to ensure timely, accurate, and competitive pricing for fabrication projects.
- Analyze labor, materials, and production costs to develop precise quotes.
- Ensure estimates align with current market conditions, production capabilities, and profitability goals.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and procurement teams to refine and validate estimates.
- Utilize technology and data analytics to improve estimating accuracy and efficiency.
- Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to the estimating team to enhance overall department effectiveness
Sales & Pipeline Development:
- Ensure the sales team maintains a steady pipeline through targeted outreach, cold calling, and customer engagement.
- Track and provide accountability for customer follow-ups, prospecting efforts, and new business development activities.
- Monitor sales performance and market engagement, ensuring sales efforts align with company objectives.
- Support sales efforts by helping identify strategic opportunities and key market segments.
- Serve as a point of contact for key customers and high-profile projects, ensuring estimating and production teams align with customer needs.
Continuous Improvement & Process Optimization
- Evaluate and implement technology solutions to enhance estimating and quoting workflows.
- Identify cost-saving measures and process improvements within the estimating and sales functions.
- Leverage data-driven insights to refine estimating accuracy and efficiency.
Requirements:
Experience & Education:
- 7-10+ years of experience in estimating and cost analysis within a manufacturing environment, preferably in metal processing, machining, and welding.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpreting technical drawings.
- Strong understanding of job shop fabrication processes, labor costs, and material pricing.
- Experience leading and mentoring a team, with the ability to manage both estimating and provide oversight to the sales function.
- Experience with Epicor ERP or similar estimating/quoting software is preferred.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic oversight skills.
- Strong analytical skills with a focus on process improvement and efficiency.
