About the Role

We're looking for a flexible, technically fluent Sales Engineer / Subject Matter Expert (SME) to help expand Starboard's U.S. footprint across multiple critical sectors - including federal government, energy, and telecommunications.

You'll act as the go-to technical partner supporting our Business Development Managers in the U.S timezone to do everything with helping translate customer needs into practical platform solutions. This role spans from technical discovery, demo delivery, solution design, integration, and field support - especially in mission-critical contexts like infrastructure protection and maritime awareness.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on variety, can operate autonomously across a mix of public and private environments, and enjoys supporting both strategic growth and tactical delivery.

What You'll be doing:

Pre-Sales & Solution Support

  • Partner with Business Development and Account Managers to translate mission requirements into field-ready solutions
  • Support BDMs across federal, energy, and telco sectors with technical discovery, solution scoping, and platform walkthroughs
  • Deliver tailored platform demos and technical briefings for use cases including cable protection, coastal monitoring, and maritime risk, across secure and unclassified environments
  • Support RFP/RFI responses and co-author technical documentation, including security and integration requirements

Solution Architecture & Deployment

  • Design modular, deployable architectures for environments ranging from cloud-denied edge to classified enclaves
  • Ensure solutions align with relevant security, interoperability, and deployment standards across sectors - including STANAG, ATO, and telco or energy infrastructure compliance frameworks
  • Tailor dashboards and system configurations for real-world operations - from threat detection to infrastructure monitoring

Customer Enablement & Lifecycle Support

  • Lead onboarding, secure access setup, and technical training for operators
  • Provide diagnostics, training, and field support for critical customers across public and private sectors within the United States
  • Interface with product and engineering to escalate field requirements and shape future platform capabilities

What You'll Bring:

  • 5+ years in sales engineering, solutions architecture, or field engineering for federal/defense customers
  • Hands-on knowledge of ISR, AI/ML, SIGINT/GEOINT, edge compute, or deployable tech platforms
  • Experience briefing senior military, IC, or federal stakeholders on technical strategy
  • Familiarity with federal procurement pathways (SBIR, OTA, CRAD, etc.)
  • Comfortable operating in classified environments; TS/SCI clearance strongly preferred
  • Exceptional written/verbal communication - technical + tactical

You'll Get Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Military, government or IC background in ISR, GEOINT, C2, cyber, or tactical systems
  • Experience supporting major federal primes or allied procurement programs (e.g. Palantir, Leidos, Maxar, Raytheon)
  • Working knowledge of NATO/STANAG, Five Eyes interoperability requirements, or AUKUS-aligned coalition systems
  • Prior participation in field validation, red/blue teaming, classified pilot execution or operational testing of secure systems

What We Offer:

A competitive compensation package aligned with U.S. federal market benchmarks, alongside fully supported benefits through our global employment partners.

Our team is remote-first, with flexibility around where and how you work - and we ensure you have the tools, support, and environment you need to succeed in high-stakes, high-trust environments.
