Position Summary:
Under the general direction of the Civic Center Director this position is responsible for working in conjunction with other members of the sales staff to market the venue, initiate specific event-related promotions to increase revenue and achieve established department goals. Work extensively with customers to meet the needs and requirements related to the booking of various City of Humble venues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Prospect for new and repeat business by conducting sales calls, networking, and phone coverage.
• Assist in developing, maintaining, and expanding customer base.
• Prepare estimates, proposals, and contracts for customer events.
• Report, on a daily/weekly basis, to the Civic Center Director information on potential sales leads and existing client relations.
• Properly maintain electronic booking system/event files and secure insurance, deposits, and signed agreements.
• Provide tours of the facility to potential clients and other interested parties, follow-up in a timely manner, and recommend additional services.
• Proactively address client concerns to prevent escalation.
• Timely and accurate booking of events for various City of Humble venues.
• Work to ensure customer satisfaction before, during, and after scheduled events.
• Obtain prior approval from Director for any discounts for special pricing.
• Accurately collect all fees required for each event booked.
• Attend departmental meetings and events.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively with a diverse customer base.
• Ability to effectively work in conjunction with staff and all departments.
• Advanced business writing skills, experience with contracts, and strong orientation to customer service.
• Must be detail oriented and able to work under pressure with deadlines.
• Professional presentation, appearance, and communication.
• Sales and event planning experience preferred.
• Must be able to stay on task with multiple distractions throughout the day.
• Ability to maintain highly confidential information and be discreet.
• Ability to effectively resolve customer concerns and problems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Working knowledge of an electronic booking system and other industry software.
Minimum Requirements:
• High School Diploma
• Valid Texas Driver's License
• One-year customer service/sales experience
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or Business is preferred
Physical Demands/Working Conditions:
Physical demands require walking, sitting, standing, and lifting up to 25 lbs. on a regular basis. May also have to reach, stretch, squat, or bend. Working conditions are in a controlled environment. Occasional outside working conditions should be expected.
