Sales Associate The Sales Associate assists customers in finding and purchasing the required merchandise in a retail environment while encouraging customers to purchase products.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions: - Greet customers and ascertain what each customer wants or needs.
- Maintain knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practices.
- Zone Merchandise.
- Perform price/product look-ups.
- Operate cash register and maintain knowledge of cashier procedures.
- Open and close cash registers, perform tasks such as counting money, separating charge slips, coupons, and vouchers, balancing cash drawers, and making deposits.
- Maintain neatness of storefront for presentation.
Responsibilities: - Required to learn company policies and procedures.
- Watch for and recognize security risks and thefts and know how to prevent or handle these situations.
- Housekeeping duties.
- Unload merchandise from the truck.
- Duties may change and associates may be required to perform other duties as assigned.
- Responsible for top-notch customer service while maintaining a pleasant working environment.
- Answer telephone.
- Ability to pass a background check via the State of California and a drug test
Qualifications: - Experience - Entry level, but retail/customer service-related experience preferred.
- Education - High school diploma or GED
- Complexity of duties - Maintaining a high level of customer service while also being able to handle any complications or conflicts professionally.
- Supervision received - Direct oversight from Retail Store Manager.
- Supervision exercised - Indirectly responsible when instructed by Retail Store Manager on task/s that are to be accomplished.
- Working conditions - Storefront environment.
- Mental and physical demands - Ability to maintain a pleasant demeanor even when unfairly treated by customers, sitting, standing, lifting to 50 lbs., reaching, communication skills, and motor coordination skills (coordination of eyes, hands, and feet).
